What's Happening

MMO-PreK-Kindergarten Registration
Registration is now open to families already in the programs. Providence church families can register beginning March 1. Registration opens to the community on March 8.

March 17-20, 6-9pm

Free fun for the whole family
The community is invited to experience the sights, sounds & smells as you walk back through time to a village in biblical days.

Archery, Pottery Making, Rock Climbing, Jewelry Making, Basket Weaving, Perfume Making,
Live Animals, Rope Making, Carpentry, Camel Rides, Family Photos in period costume,
Music, Hebrew Writing, Artisan Demonstrations & Food.

Bring a friend, enter through the Children’s Building where there are Census Takers, then come out into the Marketplace where you will see Roman Soldiers, people in the market, children dancing and animals roaming in the village square. Wander around the Marketplace to see the artisans, have a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate, watch the fabric weaver and see the drama unfold.

If you are new to Providence or just haven’t signed up, email Leslie at to find out where you can serve in this authentic biblical village—there’s something for everyone! This is a fun way to meet more people in the church family and a great outreach to our community.

Marketplace Buildings
If you have some time available, please consider helping with construction of Marketplace buildings! The plans are in the lobby—they are easy and we’ll provide the materials. Please contact Brent Ritter to sign up for a building and he’ll give you all the info. Britter@provumc.com

Craft Preparation
If you have some quiet time when the children are studying or asleep, we have craft prep you can do at home. Please contact Kathi at
ksewak@provumc.com

Costumes
Buy 4-5 yards (Small-XL) of muted fabric, and a pattern (Simplicity #4213, 8152, 8276). If you have extra fabric you can use it for belts, scarves, headpieces or give it to us. The next sewing bee for costumes will be Saturday, March 6, 9am-2pm.For questions & info, contact Barbee at bvosecky@provumc.com

Visit with the Preacher!

Marketplace Sign Up Board

Check it out in the lobby the next time you are here on Wednesday or Sunday! You will see all of the open slots for the various activities, crafts and buildings. Please consider signing up for more than one slot; each slot is for one activity on one night of the Marketplace. Thank you!!

Tell your Friends & Neighbors!
It’s time to start telling everyone you know about The Marketplace 2010! We will soon be getting postcards for you to hand out, and there will be ads in The Citizen in March, but nothing is better than a friend telling a friend that it is a wonderful, free event for the whole family!

Donations Needed
Some of the items needed are: lightweight cotton fabric for headpieces, Olives, Olive Oil and artificial grapes. Please check the board in the lobby each time you are here to see what is needed and drop them off the next time you are here.

Heavenly Teacakes
Calling all bakers! We need MANY cookies for the Marketplace. The recipe is in the lobby on the Marketplace table. Pick one up, then email Leslie at llunsford@provumc.com to let her know how many you can make. Or email Leslie and she can send you an electronic copy of the recipe.

Are You Experiencing the Blues?
Stephen Ministers are members of Providence who have gone through 50 hours of training to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to people who are facing a crisis or simply going through a difficult time. Your Stephen Minister will meet with you as needed for around an hour to listen to you, care for you, pray with and for you, and provide emotional and spiritual encouragement. Men are matched with male Stephen Ministers, women are matched with female Stephen Ministers. To find out more about how you or someone you know could be matched with a Stephen Minister, talk with Eve Hanie (770-460-5312).

Audio-Visual Tech Volunteers Needed!
If you have the gift of operating a sound board or MediaShout or you are willing to learn, we need YOU! Each Sunday a team of volunteers helps to make worship a great experience by using their technical talents to run the A/V systems. Please contact Barbee at bvosecky@provumc.com if you are willing to serve on the team 1-2 times each month.

Providence Prayer Team
If prayer is one of your spiritual gifts, the Providence prayer team needs you. We are expanding our ministry to include monthly prayer services, weekly altar attendants and pastoral prayer. Adventure Bay...
kids’ worship in the Wave!

**Important Note**
All children must be checked in the security system when being left for any activity in the children's building. This is a very important aspect of “Safe Sanctuaries.” We appreciate your cooperation and patience!

If you sign your child in to Parent Pager at 10a.m. the Children’s Ministry will automatically move your child from The Lordwalk Sunday school to Adventure Bay worship, so you can go to worship or Sunday School or have some coffee in the Connection Café.

There are many volunteer positions from teaching & shepherding to greeting & data entry. Check out the sign-up board in the lobby of the children's building and "get hooked" today. Time invested in kids is never wasted!

Children’s Ministry t-shirts
Get your t-shirt today—just $10 each! Shirts have the PUMC “The Net” logo on the front & scripture on the back. It’s a great conversation starter—you can invite someone you meet to come check out Providence when they ask about it. See Kathi or Teresa!

“Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

10a.m. Sunday School for Kids

10:00 a.m. Lordwalk Sunday school is an unforgettable Faith Adventure for K-5th grade children. The name of the curriculum is “Workshop Zone.” The different workshops are: Whales’ Tales (Storytelling), Seaside Studio (Art), Fish.net (Computers), Fish Bowl (Games), Star Fish (Drama), Fish & Clips (Movies) and Lighthouse Lab (Science). For parents of infants-toddlers, the rooms are The Hatchery, Toddlers by the Sea and Fins & Grins. During each four-week unit the kids will attend four different workshops then switch to the other four workshops the next month.

If you have a infant-5th grade child, or if your children are grown and out of the house, there’s a place for you! If your gift is not in working directly with children, you can work behind a desk or greet parents as they arrive to drop off or pick up their children. Sign up for one four-week slot in the lobby of the children’s building.
Please contact Kathi Sewak for more information: ksewak@provumc.com

All 3 years-5th grade children are invited to be here Wednesdays during the school year. Email Barbee at bvosecky@provumc.com with all of your contact information, your child’s name and age.

Creative Arts Ministry

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord...
Are you hiding your talents under a bushel? Do you have a musical talent you can share with the church? Do you have an instrument gathering dust somewhere in a closet? Do you wish you could sing with a group, learn to play handbells or be a part of an instrumental group? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then Providence needs you! Please fill out the Musical Abilities Survey located in the lobby at Connection Corner and we will contact you.

The adult choir – participates in traditional worship and leads congregational singing. Special music is based upon seasons or sermon topics.

A small adult ensemble – participates in traditional worship and special church programs. ProvPraise sings a variety of Christian music (Contemporary, Traditional, Southern Gospel) with accompaniment tracks. Membership is by audition only.

A small adult ensemble – participates in traditional worship. Grace Notes sings traditional music, many pieces are more difficult and require a more advanced knowledge of music. Membership is by audition only.

Women’s Ensemble is open to all women and meets on Wednesday mornings for rehearsal.  This group also sings on a rotating schedule.

Senior Highs-Adults meet in room 110 at 4:00 p.m. Sundays for rehearsal during the school calendar year. If you need more info, contact Handbell Director, Doug McKibbin at rngldr@comcast.net
