What's Happening

Second Hand Smiles Children’s Consignment Sale

Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15th in the gym.

Preschool/MMO/Kindergarten Orientation

Friday August 14 in the Children’s Building

Feeding the Children

Check out the lobby this Sunday for photos and information about children whose lives you can affect in a wonderful way! Our prayer is that through your help with this program even more children will experience the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. A gift of $330 each year (less than $1/day!) will sponsor a child in the village of El Pino, Honduras. If you, your family or your small group would like to sponsor a child it will truly make a difference! Contact Carol Axford at carolaxford@comcast.net for info.

Fayette Samaritans

August is one of our months to help fill the food pantry for the Samaritans. Please stock up on items as they go on sale and bring them to the missions box in the lobby. They need: peanut butter and jellies, canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, cereals, pasta, soup, crackers, toilet paper, dish detergent, canned meats and vegetables, rice, bottled juices, personal products.

Connection Café Patio!

You will soon see the beginning of the Connection Café Patio! This will be additional space for fellowship on Sundays and Wednesdays and will be available for adult, young adult and youth small group functions. You can be a part of this project by donating toward the cost. See Leslie for info about what the patio could include and to donate toward the project. Thank you!

Sentiments…

Providence UMC extends Christian sympathy to Greg & Teri Holland in the passing of Greg’s dad, Gerald Holland.

Are You Experiencing the Blues?

Stephen Ministers are members of Providence who have gone through 50 hours of training to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to people who are facing a crisis or simply going through a difficult time. Your Stephen Minister will meet with you as needed for around an hour to listen to you, care for you, pray with and for you, and provide emotional and spiritual encouragement. Men are matched with male Stephen Ministers, women are matched with female Stephen Ministers. To find out more about how you or someone you know could be matched with a Stephen Minister, talk with Eve Hanie (770-460-5312).

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord...

Are you hiding your talents under a bushel? Do you have a musical talent you can share with the church? Do you have an instrument gathering dust somewhere in a closet? Do you wish you could sing with a group, learn to play handbells or be a part of an instrumental group? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then Providence needs you! Please fill out the Musical Abilities Survey located in the lobby at Connection Corner and we will contact you.

The adult choir – participates in traditional worship and leads congregational singing. Special music is based upon seasons or sermon topics.

A small adult ensemble – participates in traditional worship and special church programs. ProvPraise sings a variety of Christian music (Contemporary, Traditional, Southern Gospel) with accompaniment tracks. Membership is by audition only.

A small adult ensemble – participates in traditional worship. Grace Notes sings traditional music, many pieces are more difficult and require a more advanced knowledge of music. Membership is by audition only.
