“The Heart of the Matter”
By: Herb Flanders

Jesus tells us in Matthew 5-7 that everyone stands guilty in front of Christ at this moment. Likewise, everyone stands loved by Christ at this moment. Jesus tells us to admit that we are guilty, but grace is given to us all.

"Salt Life"
If something is salty, you will notice the taste immediately. Also, a light shines and all will see it. Like salt, your Christian living will be noticed, and your Christ-like witness will glorify God and will shine like a light in the world. - Feb 2, 2020“First Look”

"First Look"
Matthew 5:1-12 contains the Beatitudes that Jesus gave us. It is a "First Look" at what Jesus would preach to the people about how we should live as followers of Christ. - Jan 26, 2020“At Once”

"At Once"
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. - Jan 19, 2020“Don’t Be So Judge-y!”

"Don't Be So Judge-y!"
Prejudgement can cost us if we aren't careful. Nathanael prejudged Jesus by telling Philip, "46 Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” If he had kept to his judgement, just think what it would have cost him. "Don't Be So Judge-y," or you may miss the blessings of God. - Jan 12, 2020“Obedience”

"Obedience"
If Jesus is sinless, why did He need to be baptized? Remember, Jesus is fully human and fully divine. Jesus as human submitted to accept baptism because it identified him with us. Rituals are important and remind us of our faith and the grace given to us. - Jan 5, 2020“A New Normal”

"A New Normal"
We all go through changes in life that cause us to live in "A New Normal." Can a new normal be a positive? After experiencing Christ, can 2020 be different for us? Can we be intentional about putting Christ first in our "New Normal?" - Dec 29, 2019Brunch Service

If we have Christ in our heart, we should do three things: go tell about Christ, pause and ponder Christ in our heart, and glorify and praise God. - Dec 24, 2019“Knit Together, Wrapped Up”

"Knit Together, Wrapped Up"
To see Jesus is to see every prayer wrapped up in one tiny baby who came to forgive, who came to heal, who came to offer us grace and second chances. He came to remind us that all prayers are answered in eternity with him. - Dec 22, 2019“I’m In!”

"I'm In!"
2000 years ago, God looked down at His people and decided to come down with open arms to fulfill the prophecy. "22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”)." God was "All In," and we call him Immanuel!
